There's an interesting press release out that mentions baseball as a great place to take a date.

I guess the same principal applies to other sports as well (if you live outside the US baseball isn't really much of an option).

The reason I think a sporting event works well is that is provides great (and many) opportunities for discussion ("wow that was a good shot/goal/etc..) and it gives you breaks in between to figure out what you are going to talk about next. I guess this helps avoid those awkward silences that can make or break a date.

However what really interested me about the release were the stats related to mobile phone usage during a date. Honestly I cant imagine that anyone would find talking on a mobile phone during a date acceptable. If a person cant dedicate a few hours (or less) time to a date in the early days of a relationship it doesn't bode well for the future.
